BC1-1908 Homework jamesley

Collaborations

Hi I'm not sure of myself but for now I'm staying on this keyblade

In the past I have already tried a keyblade less detailed and I decided to try a new keyblade harder to challenge me

  • silentheart00 replied

Looks like a good challenge!  Looking forward to what you can do!

  • Jack (jack07) replied

Woah, that's going to be interesting to see!

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

Dayum, that's quite the challenge. I'll be sure to keep an eye on here, good luck!

  • Philipp Bauer(cruento) replied

Cool stuff! I am curious to see the final result!

  • spikeyxxx replied

    That's some design!

    Good luck.

Hey in the homework of the week 1 it is not worth mentioning that it is necessary to make a low poly but I see several people to mention it.Should one make the low poly?

  • Ingrid Frank(Fide) replied

I´m really looking forward to it! I´m a huge Kingdom Hearts fan :)

  • jamesley replied

Thank you for your encouragement but someone would have an answer to my question at the top plz ?

Should one make the low poly?

jjamesley What I mean by "low poly" is to not use a subsurf modifier. That doesn't mean you can only have X number of polygons in your model. In my opinion, modeling for smoothing is a little more complex and can be avoided for this project. Even for the intermediate-to-advanced participants, modeling without smoothing is good practice.

PS: You've got a challenge ahead of you with that model. Make it so!

  • jamesley replied

@theluthier Alright I started with subsurf I will try to remove the loops that were used for smoothing and create a low poly version

  • Kent Trammell replied

jjamesley Well if you now what you're doing, staying the course. If you want to change course and go for low-poly that's fine too. I try not to be overly strict about "rules" but establish guide lines. Ultimately if you prefer to do subsurf modeling it's not a problem with me :)

The complexity of the keyblade though, talk about holding edge galore 😬

  • amyeha replied

oh this is going to be gorgeous!

  • jamesley replied

I have advanced.I could not transcribe the keyblade 100%. I'm still beginner but I'm pretty happy I guess.

I still have not removed subsurf on some part, it's still not a low poly.

  • silentheart00 replied

jjamesley Holy snot.  It's recognizable, that's for sure.  Nice work.

  • richm replied

jjamesley I could totally see that as an in-game model. Great Job!!!!

  • Jake McCluskey(Ghujelk) replied

jjamesley Dang, that's some quality progress! Can't wait to see how this turns out!

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

jjamesley Goddamn, talk about ambitious. The end result of this is going to be something to behold.

  • spikeyxxx replied

jjamesley That looks amazing! Good progress.

  • jamesley replied

soon finished I solved a problem of orientation and size for better match. All I need to do is connect everything and create a low poly and high poly version. Thank you for your return.

  • spikeyxxx replied

jjamesley Looks better than the reference. What I mean is that it looks more dangerous, more like a weapon.

To me the reference looks more like an over-designed hairpin;)
