Scorpion Work In Progress

This old test render of Scorpion was created back in the year 2015. Again, there were so many noticeable problems that I had to overcome to present a final version. NOTE: These images were not the final version. I only share it to show that even the best of us can make mistakes or even faced with obstacles we might believe is impossible. 😊 Final version of Scorpion can be viewed here - https://cgcookie.com/u/bc_griffin/projects/scorpion-5

  • duerer Globally, there are many talented artists, but Rafael Grasetti is my utmost favourite, eventhough he is a Zbrush user. He's work as you've mentioned is breathtaking. and inspirational. The principles remain the same, just the workflow and features that differ. Zbrush will always remain on top of the list but this is not to say that you can't produce great results using Blender. I've seen some amazing work created in Blender that even surpassed Zbrush at times and also not to mention that Blender has been receiving a lot of love in Sculpting as of late. Just comes to show that it's not the software you use but how you go about using it. (of course based on your knowledge). 😊 That is why I practice each day. I still make a lot of mistakes and learn a lot each day but this is the only way to grow. I do not own a Zbrush licence. I also only use Blender for all my sculpts.

  • bc_griffin Indeed, Chris is very precise in his modeling and I like him saying "Cool" after every successful step 🙂! And he is really eager to help you creating high qualitiy models. I've never regretted purchasing his Corvette modeling course. Another great CG artist you mentioned here is Rafael Grassetti. I've taken a look at his portfolio at https://grassetti.artstation.com/ which is absolutely breathtaking! He also offers courses which are in ZBrush but I feel comfortable enough with Blender's "Sculpt Mode" that I think that it should be possible to transfer at least the basic principles from ZBrush to Blender regardless that ZBrush is off course more sophisticated in that field since it's specialized in "Sculpting" and under intense development for many years.

  • ketre Thank you Karen, means a lot. I try to assist however I can where I can. When I started out and needed assistance and some community members were kind enough to share their knowledge. My dear mother raised me to always show kindness, respect and assist where possible. 😊 Take care and please be safe.

  • duerer You're most welcome Ingmar. Precision is what defines Chris' passion for 3d art. In the 1st or 2nd chapter you can actually hear the excitement in his voice. You can clearly tell that he takes a lot of pride in his work. I love that he is precise and detailed about everything he creates because that's exactly my nature too. Good luck with the course Ingmar... can't wait to see your results. 😊 Take care and please be safe.

  • I love the work, this is really awesome. Even more I really dig what you have to say to those of us learning 💓

  • bc_griffin Thanks a lot for your best wishes 😊! And yes, it's the Corvette Stingray 😉! What's confusing me a little bit is that Chris sometimes is super precise and in other cases very generous with the blueprint matching 😉😁. But I think it's important that I match the overall look and learn the basic car modeling techniques. Dividing a huge project into manageable "chuncks" following the "Divide and conquer" principle works out best for me and helps me to keep my motivation high. That's how I did it with Piero where I still have to do the animation.

PS: I've almost finished lesson 7 in chapter 2 ( out of over 60 lessons 😉😁) for the Corvette modeling" so it won't get boring very soon 😉😁! I think I will start a Polybook where I can document my progress ...😀

  • duerer You're most welcome. Thank you Ingmar. 😊 May the Almighty bless and keep you safe from harm too. 😊

The Corvette Stingray I presume? 😊

Good luck with the course, I know you'll end up with great results.

Took me a couple of months to complete it.

For me some Chapters were quite intimidating but I ended up with the desired results. Had to rewind a few times.

Take care of yourself Ingmar. 😊

  • bc_griffin Now, I have to thank you for your kind and motivating words 😊! You're with your artwork definitively a source of inspiration for me 🎨! And your comment didn't feel long at all (quite the contrary!) 🙂. I'm looking forward to your artwork in the next year knowing that it will be exceptional as usual 👍 God bless you 🙂!

PS: I just received Chris Plush's message from the future 🔮 with a warning that not executing a certain knife cut "set off a chain of events that led to the Robo Wars"🔫🛸 . Now, you certainly know what I'm currently trying to build 😉.

  • duerer Thank you Ingmar, you are too kind. 😊 I've viewed many of your projects in your Gallery and to be very honest, it's soooooo much better than when I started in 2011. Even today I think you produce great work. Think of what you'll be able to achieve by just believing in yourself and with a little practice each day. I can't take all the credit because most of the knowledge I possess today is all thanks to CG Cookie and Rafael Grasetti. Become inspired... push yourself and one day you'll become the artist you once dreamed about....even better than me. If there is one valuable lesson I've learned throughout my journey as an artist, is that you shouldn't be intimidated by individuals that create beautiful art...instead become inspired and emotionally driven to learn and adapt. One day you will create your own style of art and there will be someone out there that will admire your skills. Thank you once again Ingmar and my apologies for the long read. 😊

  • This already looks great to me👍! I wish I would today be so far to make your modeling mistakes from 2015 😉. The pose of the final model you linked looks even better 👍 and this doesn't surprise me since I know that you're able to surpass yourself again and again 🥇🏆!
