Hey there, I want to make a seam, but I have a difficult time figuring out how to properly do one. Does anyone have an idea on how I should solve this problem as easy and fast as possible?

    Hey Julian,

In edit mode, select the edges where you want the seam and right click and select 'mark seam'.

If you want to know which edges to select for the seam, that depends on your model. It takes time and practice to learn this.

Take a look at the fundamentals-of-texturing-in-blender course to learn more.

    Solution

    Hi Julian,

Maybe you mean something like a seam in clothing.

It depends on your Mesh, but you can select the Edgeloop where the seam is supposed to go and then P >separate by Selection. Go into Object Mode, select that new Object and go to Object > Convert > Curve.

Then you can use an Array and Curve Modifier the put the threads in.

In the original Mesh, with that Edgeloop selected, use CTRL+B to bevel, scrool up so you get two segment (3 Edgeloops). CTR +(Numpad -) to select the middle one and move that inwards/down with ALT+S.

Hey guys, thank you both so much!

Adrian, thank very much, I will look into that.

Martin, yess, I am modelling a suitcase. I will try it like that, but I think that could be an easy option, thank you!

So, for the threads in the seam, something like this
