Winter bench Final

Not a project I'm particularly proud of, I'm afraid. It was meant to be a part of a larger scene for a Christmas competition, but it didn't go exactly as planned. Here is more whining on that topic: https://honestmisskate.blogspot.com/2018/12/winter-bench.html

  • showersja Thank you very much for your comments, they are really helpful. I did want to make the metal attachment piece, but I completely forgot about it and only realized when I finished the final render. :-) I think I'll try to make more snow scenes in the future, but I'll have to figure out a better way of creating the layers - this is far from ideal. As to the lighting, there is only an HDR, plus a mesh light on the left, simulating the street lamp. I think the unnatural feel might be due to the intensity of the environment lighting, I'll try to tone it down next time.

  • I'd second the lighting comment. Also the bench is missing the attachment points you'd expect to see into the wood (screws/bolts/bracing metal). All in all, I love the snow you did and the the bench has a great design foundation. Keep going with it! Model some park lights, maybe reduce the snow a little to add cement for the bench/xmas lighting. With not a lot of work, this could be a really strong scene for next year's xmas contests!

  • The light isn't related to the scene (there is a light from the right side without its proper shadow).
It looks like a studio lighting inside a outdoors scene.
I see the different layouts a bit sharped too.
Anyway, the bench itself is very good done.
    I hope that helps.
