Hi there! Finally in my spare time , I managed to sculpt Vinnie from Biker mice from Mars, one of my favorite cartoon when I was a child! It's just a sculpt rendered in Eevee .I wanted to try the Vertex painting on the newest version of Blender and it's not bad! still experimental, but works fine!
Great workπ! One of the rare examples of someone using "Vertex Colors" for painting a model.
I hope that there will be a "Vertex Color Alpha Channel" and no limitation for the number of vertex color layers. Following Danny Mac's course "How to Paint in Layers using Blender 2.8" (https://cgcookie.com/tutorial/how-to-paint-in-layers-using-blender-2-8), you could paint an "Image Texture" and bake it to "Vertex Colors" using the workaround in Blender 2.8 and 2.9 that I describe here: https://cgcookie.com/questions/12965-use-for-baking-textures-to-vertex-colors#answer-44963 . So, you could combine the advantages of "Texture Painting" with those of "Vertex Painting".
