Toro nagashi lanterns (灯籠流し) Work In Progress

Tōrō nagashi is a Japanese ceremony in which participants float paper lanterns down a river; tōrō is a word for "lantern," while nagashi means "cruise" or "flow." - Wikipedia This is my attempt at modeling the lanterns in 3d for later use in animation. In the process I am learning more about cultures, customs, art forms (for example, I never knew what "katagami / 型紙" was until this project. I have seen the stencils, but never knew it's history) Alas, the project is about the lanterns them self. Current text and place holder textures will be replaced by meaningful text and art once complete.
