Most of this illustration was made to salvage the original painting I was making; the original character (a lady on a horse) did not turned out the way I wanted, but the background sort of did. So I scrapped the original character, focused on the background and peppered a few astronauts around to create a narrative. A lot of the style comes from Ridley Scott movies, although I also wanted to emulate Roger Deakins style as well (I noticed he sometimes makes like a little invisible path, so I tried that too). Inspirations or homages aside, all things in the drawing were painted in Photoshop.
The sky is mesmerizing. Good job!

Excellent work, oorsonm. I was immediately struck by the detail layered throughout. I could sit and stare at this painting for a while. Good stuff!
The one thing I offer as critique is that most of the image feels flat to me, almost like a relief. The foreground and mid-ground especially. Though there's a wonderful grandness about the overall illustration, from the expanse of the sky and clouds to the intricate details to the scope of the landscape. So I personally would like to see a bit more atmospheric depth from foreground to mid-ground.
Still I think that's a minor note. Really excellent work here!
