Koubu is a mecha unit from "Sakura Wars" game series. This specific version of the Koubu is from the PS2 remake of the first game.
The cherry blossom tree was made using the MTree addon. Compositing was done using Blender and Krita. The Koubu was textured procedurally in Blender.
This is a really cool contrast between a chunky battle machine and such bright coloring. Take the sword away and it almost looks like a friendly robot in a kits show. With the sword and other Japanese touches it's a fearsome killing machine.
