KaBar knife was the combat knife first adopted by the United States Marine Corps in November 1942 as the 1219C2 combat knife (later designated the USMC Mark 2 combat knife or Knife, Fighting Utility), and subsequently adopted by the United States Navy as the U.S. Navy utility knife, Mark 2.

Modeled, textured, and rendered in Blender.

  • Agree with Omar about the blade’s glint: all metal materials need anisotropy and graininess, the latter turning into ‘elongated strips’ when polished. I’d experiment with a noise texture plugged into the metallicity slot of the uber shader, for example.
And man, do I have an affinity for blades myself: though mine are mostly sci-fantasy, like this one , or that one . The first one meant to look like steel, and the second, titanium (I know no one makes blades out of titanium now😉).

Cool one Matt. I think the only feedback that comes to my mind is that the blade has a bit of a plastic feel to it. Perhaps is that the color is too dark, steel is a lighter gray but I googled that knife and it has that same color. So maybe it's all about how a blade has all that anisotropic reflections, elongated strips and roughness. Perhaps the shader has all of those properties so maybe it's about a lighting setup that makes it all pop. Other than that is a cool model.

I also thought the blade had a bit of a plastic feel to it but wasn't sure how to fix it. I didn't add any anisotropic reflections, I keep that in mind for my next knife project. Thanks Omar.
