  • I do mostly hardsurface, but I'll have to give this a go after seeing your results, nicely done.

    Awesome!
And I'm surprised Kent didn't give this a staff pick!
    So I will!
    Amazing work Hugo.

HUGOOOOOOO you never disappoint! You're a force of CGI nature, sir.

Your first portrait is great too, but this one feels notably more natural. The slightest of pose by tilting the head back and to the side gives this guy a *attitude*. Also the cigarette in the ear and clothing style adds a narrative undertone. Really nice work, Hugo 👏

I'm excited to see what you do next 👀

Thank you very much for the course Kent! I'm just putting some excellent theory into practice.

Yes, this was a major takeaway form the first portrait. I left it at the neutral position and no matter waht i tried it never stopped looking a bit stiff and unnatural. So this time around the plan from the start was to get some more natural pose in there. I originally intended to have a more extrome pose, like turning the whole head but that was too tricky for me to pull off. I think for the next one I'll pose after retopology and then commit.

Agreed, awesome job. Congrats on tackling Human twice, not an easy feat to pull off. 🤙🏼

  • I’m on my phone but this looks good to me. My nitpick is the cigarette in his ear - it just looks fake. I think both the model (doesn’t match the detail the rest demands) and the placement (doesn’t look squashed in enough and no shadows)

I think I know what you mean but a lot of that is due to the frontal lighting which eliminates the shadow between the ear and the cigarette.

  • Wow, really great work. Love all the little details in the skin like the little dark spots and wrinkles.
Little nitpick: In the animation I would have liked to see the lights stay in one place so the shadow moves more over the head/ face.
