Cherry tree Final

Ancient cherry tree floating on a island in the void. I would really appreciate criticism. Thanks!

I already tried to add an HDR but I wanted to have clouds in the background. So I rotated the HDR so it faces upwards. But when I rendered it, the image had a dizzy feeling

  • I think maybe adding an HDR would help a lot for the lighting and filling the entire space. The tree looks amazing though. Great job!

  • This works well as a minimalist piece. The colors are very well balanced right now. with that said...

    1. lighting:
please light this better. The black areas are unpleasant against the background

    2. composition:
I think this would work better if it were centered. Or you could super zoom in and emphasizes the light and dark contrast to showcase the form. Either way there's currently to much negative space to the left.

    3. grass:
The grass needs some variation. It looks to uniform and manufactured right now.

as a last note I personally would like to see the form of the tree more structurally "balanced". It looks a little too sparse and crooked right now.

This is actually decently refined as it is. That extra 10ish% would go a long way. Nice job.

  • The leaves are just quick 3d models.
I made 3 pieces( some little dented and more deformed) Then I used the sapling generator to create the individual branches. Then those are duplicated across the whole tree.

  • That looks cool. How did you do the leaves? Is it an image, or a 3d model?
If you wanted, you could add in more islands. Just to populate it a little. You could do a big tree in the middle, maybe like a cedar tree, then have some other trees on islands around it.
If you wanted to leave it as one island, you could make a swing on it with some ropes and wood at the bottom. You can either leave it empty or have a kid on it.
