Captain Future Comet Final

Captain Future was the first animated space series that completely captivated little Holger in the 80s.

For the spaceship "Comet" I used a SLT file found in Thingiverse and transferred it to a blender file. Then I changed it slightly, separated the different parts from the main body, added material, surfaces and got it moving. It was a little bit tricky to generate the shadow-catcher on the desk and to get the illusion of flying "behind my head". Never worked with Holdout before, that offers a lot of new possiblities.

To the main theme of the series I added drums (MIDI) and played an additional guitar-track on top of it. That was real fun!

  • This is EPIC! Little 80s Holger would be proud. 🥲

  • Fantastic 👍🏻
    I love it!

  • It's like the main Star Trek theme went acapella and got Rock riffs to back it up.

Really excellent job of getting it to feel like it's actually flying around in your space. I particularly like the bit where the ship comes right at the camera.

Next challenge? The "swinging lamp" Roger Rabbit challenge: emulate your lighting setup in Blender, complete with an object representing yourself, and have the lighting and shadows reflected both on yourself and the ship. (Maybe not the next challenge. That's probably geometrically more difficult.)

Edit: The ship really looks well modeled too!
