Art Studio Paint Brush Bristles Particle System Final

Bristle Particle System completed for final paint brush base-model. Please note Cycles node set-up. Still tweaking and refining and currently working on texture based material for an alternate. As always, brutally honest feedback welcome!

  • You're welcome, no problem! That is an excellent idea; initially I applied some Brownian force (a value of .002) to randomize direction and size of the hair particles to break up the uniformity. However, per your suggestion, I may also make use of the Particle Edit mode for fine-grain control over the emitted hairs. Thank you!

  • Do forgive the typos, my apologies.

  • Thank you!

I will be posting another update on the material used for the bristles; the updated material uses an image texture applied to the emitting mesh for the particle system. The hair particles then inherit the color from the image texture depending on the coordinates from which the emanate. For example, if a hair emits from the mesh at a point where the mapped image texture is brown, then that hair will be brown, if it emits from a point where its black it will be black. I found it to be an excellent method!

  • Thank you very much Mark, that is the aesthetic I was aiming for.

  • Looks good, and thanks for showing the setup :) , maybe a few stray bristles bent/kinked out to the side and a few really short ones that have broken off may add a bit more believe-ability. Keep it up :)

  • I see you are brushing up on your materials.

Quite lovely. Maybe add some color/saturation variance from base to tip. But One can tweak these things till the cows come home. Also relative to importance/prominence in the scene.

  • very convincing work...
the wild hairs speak of not much care being exercised...
if that is the idea, you have achieved it...
on the other hand it would not represent an artist's approach...
I'm messy about some things but brush care is not one of them.
    fwiw...
