sort of, I do drawing as freelancer, and ended up doing 3D modeling for 3D printing as a side thing, is kind of a long story, but yea some of my freelance job is doing modeling for 3D printing

  • Kent Trammell(theluthier)

Do you do 3D for your job?

  • Kent Trammell(theluthier)

Yeah I was about to say that's pretty incredible for a Blender procedural! I think the inevitable future for Blender is to make the nodes more intuitive

  • n647

want to try do it with rigid body get a more realistic result, but work comes first

  • n647

no, I draw a heighmap for a rice and then used a old substance designer to layer, really doing this stuff in blender eludes me yet

  • Kent Trammell(theluthier)

Is the rice procedural within Blender?

  • n647

yep, joke aside making rice is hard, do want to revisit this one and fix that and the nori

  • Kent Trammell(theluthier)

Looking good! Are the jelly donuts Eevee?

  • n647

    is a weeb joke

Modeling Efficiently with Modifiers

This is another "2-hr project" with emphasis on modeling optimally with modifiers. In other words: Coaxing Blender to do work for us. Over all the model is pretty simple and straight forward but we do want to be mindful of structural authenticity and detail since the camera will be close to the lantern.

Rendering for Realism...with Cycles

Spoiler: Cycles wins this one 🥇. Though I will likely start blocking in my materials and lighting with Eevee, I find that Cycles produces superior results for up-close realism. It's worth noting that this is the first project in months that I've felt necessary to use Cycles.
