Alphabetical sorting not working for appended collections?

I've appended a collection to a file in Blender 2.83. Despite ... being checked the Outliner is not integrating the appended collection properply when sorting alphabetically:

If you can show this in a simplified file, it sounds like it's a bug that needs reporting ;)

duerer unfortunately Collections are never sorted alphabetically, but in the order they are created/Appended...

Remember that Collections are numbered; if you press 3, for instance, it shows the third Collection and hides all the others.

When alphabetizing Collections, they should also be re-numbered.

    I don't think this two-line fix:

takes that into account, but still, it is a known bug and someone is working on it.

spikeyxxx Cool tip concerning the collection numbering and visibility 😀!

After some testing I discovered that you can sort the Collections by hand (drag & drop) and the numbering changes accordingly, so the second Collection in the list (not counting the Scene Collection) will be numbered 2.etc.

The link above is from an old post, but they are still looking at this problem, so no need to report it.

Excellent, spikeyxxx 👍! You just have take care to move your collection only slightly above the collection before which your moved collection shall be placed (a black line and the tooltip give you a feedback when you're in the right position for dropping your moved collection between two collections)

    spikeyxxx for the win!
