Class submissions and feedback question.

Collaborations

Hello all.

Having now finished my first class I want to check I'm not missing anything.

Are we meant to submit our project for feedback and assessment?

Cheers :)

Hi there! First, I'm quite happy to see you go through the class curriculum on your own. A key aspect of CGC Classes is that they take place at a certain time. This way a group of people can learn together, simultaneously. Therefore class is "in session" for a 4-5 week period only. However the curriculum can definitely be learned from apart from the in-session period, as you have discovered. I've always wanted members to realize this and go through these classes on their own.

The caveat is that instructors and peers only guarantee class presence for feedback and homework grading during the in-session period. While you're welcome to post your homework in the class forum thread (which was very active during the in-session period), it's not guaranteed to get graded the same as you would have during the session. In other words, classes in session get high priority from instructors for question answering / feedback / grading. Out of session class activity is the same priority as all other questions and exercise submissions across the site.

I'm saying a lot mostly for others who may wonder about classes in the future and end up in this thread. Ultimately, Yes: Please do submit your homework to a forum thread as instructed in the class videos and I will try to find time for feedback 🙂

Which class are you referring to?

    Hi Kent.

I started with the low poly rocket class.

Is there a set path from class to class?

For instance, I joined the site but I did not get any notifications regarding were to start, or direction to the starting projects that are "In session".

How to find the courses that are in session?

    Cheers :)

Ahh my apologies, I've confused terminology. We have several "genres" of education at CG Cookie, each with specific purpose. Here's a general overview and a more detailed breakdown.

The only one not explained there is Classes. I guess because it's still a somewhat experimental genre, even though I've hosted several. The only thing keeping it experimental is that we don't have classes built into the site officially. Rather we facilitate classes as a combination of existing genres. We don't have any classes scheduled but you can sift through previous classes via their forum threads.

    1. BC1-1908
    2. BC2-1803
    3. BC3-1806
    4. BC4-1810

There you will find all the info you need about the curriculum. And in those threads you can post your homework even though the class is no longer in session.

BUT it sounds like you're following courses which is the most common means of learning at CGC. In that case definitely check out the Learning Flows!

PS: Does all that make sense? I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm just confusing you further 😅

    Many thanks, Kent.

    Yep makes perfect sense :)

Learning flows does indeed appear to be a good place to start., especially as low poly rocket, which I have just finished is part of the flow :)
