Main Voronoi Texture in 2.81

I got stock at first trying to follow because the texture node looks different and there are many options, I found the solution and thought of sharing.

first the output going to the multiply math node needs to be the distance. For the first option I kept at 3D, the next one, which I think is the algorithm of calculating the texture, I tried F1 and Smooth F1 and stock with the smooth one but only with 0.2 of smoothness. you could also try F1 but I think it is too sharp for sand.

The rest can stay the same But the main thing I struggled with is that I was not able to see any displacement when connecting to the displacement input through the math node. I found strangely that I had to use a value of 150 in the multiply node to see it taking its shape when in the tutorial it was only 15 I think. I don't know if this has anything to do with the unit system as I change the main length from Meters to Centimeters,

Grate course and can't wait to upload my result.

Thanks.

Hi Yasser. Thanks for sharing this!

The Displacement has a Vector input and you should use a Vector> Displacement Node to connect it, something like this:

No Math Node needed anymore (use the Scale in the Displacement Node).

The Units have nothing to do with the strength of the effect, but the Scale of your Object (in this case the Plane) does!

Scaling up a plane in Object Mode gives large displacement, if you then Apply the Scale, the effect is smaller.

Here's some more info on the Voronoi: https://cgcookie.com/questions/11248-voronoi-demystified

Hello Spikey. Thanks for the replay.

Oh! okay that makes sense now.

Thanks for your answer and that's gonna help a lot in the future.

I uploaded my result btw, if you want to take a look and tell me what you think.

    Thanks!
