Eevee Optimization

I'd like to learn more about how to optimize displacements in Eevee.

Is it better to use a displace modifier, or keep everything in the shading node network?
Does node displacement work in 2.81?

Looking forward to it!

I can definitely cover that, but short answer is to use a displace modifier since material displacement only works with Cycles!

The textures in the node graph don't seem to correlate with the textures in the Texture Context of the properties panel.

Is there a way to translate them between the two areas more easily than re-building them?

Like, the settings don't even match up.

    Thank you!

Ah that's right, I forgot that the old texture were the only ones available for the displace modifier! You'd have to bake out the Cycles displacement to get it to work with Eevee, which can be a bit of a hassle. Here's a video on that if you want to give it a shot: https://cgcookie.com/lesson/convert-material-displacement-to-geometry
