I can download, but not open the third resource file (no access).

Is this something that can be fixed?

Thanks.

Can you explain it in more details?

  • Marc De Baer(mfdeba) replied

I  can download the third resource (blender_animation-boot-camp_source-files), but when I try to open it, I get the message that I do not have the authority to open it (I am translating from dutch).

It seems to be the exact same problem others have reported before in this same thread (but that was in 2016): Wayne responded back then that he could fix it.

mmfdeba What do you mean? Can you unzip it? What is your O.S:? Can you post a Screenshot of the error message?( I am Dutch, so I can read it...) Where have others reported this before?

    Hi Spikey,

Thanks for looking in to this.

    I'm on a Mac.

The Q&A is in this thread : Developing Your Animator's Eye.

Here is a screen short of both the error (the error is not in any of the other downloads) and the Q&A :

mmfdeba I am sorry, but I can't test this because I have never used a Mac. Maybe this will help? https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/change-permissions-for-files-folders-or-disks-mchlp1203/mac

I don't think it's an issue with the file, because I can open it and @waylow uses a Mac himself...

I do hope you can get this to work. Btw did you try the 2.80 version?

  • Marc De Baer(mfdeba) replied

Great advice Spikey, thanks, this solved it.

For some reason the permissions on the downloaded files were 'aangepast', instead of read/write.

    Another thing I learned today.

Yes, I do use 2.80, but I didn't look into 2.81 yet, only been reading about it.

There is a class scheduled on the new features, maybe I should rsvp.

    mmfdeba Glad you've solved It!

And I think you should definitely join us on that stream;) I am using 2.81 daily and it's great!

  • Wayne Dixon replied

    Glad it was sorted.
With the issue in 2016, I think it was something on the server side of things. I think I asked the dev team and they made sure the file was working.

    I do use a mac.

And I would suggest using 2.81, it's much better than 2.80 because they have already added a lot of the missing features 2.80 was meant to get but didn't.  Although the Mac builds seem to have more bugs than the other versions. (but it's still less than the official 2.80 release)
