Creating a lettuce slice

Hi, this is part of my first project I'm working on. I currently have no idea on how to proceed on making a realistic lettuce slice, which is an issue since its going to be used a floor. I'm having trouble creating the texture of a lettuce properly, such as the various veins and basically everything

As a starter, I created a mesh, inserted an image-texture and did some light sculpting on a multi-res to make it more wavy and lettuce-ish.

Not sure if this is the proper place to ask for help, or is there an alternative platform, but thanks in advance!

Pardon the extremely horrible lighting; its just to show my current abysmal work D:

It seems like you're on the right path! That's a lot better than I was expecting after reading your preface 😄 How close is the camera going to be to this piece of lettuce? If it's a background thing, what you have is probably fine. It'll look better in context.

I'm no expert at all things botanical , but one thing I have learnt with CG is that leaves need to have a degree of translucency to be believable , and considering that lettuce are pretty much water , I would asume they need a good bit of translucency - Just something to consider when setting up a shader :)

Its going to be quite close; that is its going to be used as a main flooring, something like a carpet. It definitely needs more work when focusing on it :@

Yup definitely, I was fiddling around with translucentcy, and it added a bunch of red pixels for some reason, so I put it aside for now...
