Why the [improper] file naming on downloaded files?

posted to: Prepping the file

When I download the video (lessons) from this course, I get files named like 3c7c3188a3b26fcf0efbb36aae81d14c.bin - this was for the second lesson, part #1.  All other courses I've watched on CGCppkie have nice names - what's up with this one?

    Hi Gary,

    So it's just this video?
I will pass that onto the tech department.  Sounds like it's the computers doing silly computer things rather than what they should be doing.

Thanks for letting us know - they'll get to the bottom of it.

Actually, I got this behavior off and on yesterday - I was watching the 50 tips on Blender 2.8 and some of them downloaded with correct names whilst others got the weird xxx.bin names.  Not sure what the connection is though.

    Thanks for looking into this.

I'm getting this problem too with the Treasure Chest Course. Thankfully I have internet download manager so I can get around this problem.

    Sorry for the inconvenience everyone!

We are looking into why this particular file is being served like this, but in the meantime you can use the current file with a minor change. The file itself is still a mp4 file, so you can change the file extension of the file from .bin, to .mp4, and it will work as intended.
