sculpting on a posed model

Hi All,

Is there a way in 2.79 or 2.8 to sculpt on a posed model be able to flip between the pose and the static T-pose for x -symmetry

for instance, i have a 2D image of a generally symmetrical character who is looking off into the distance with his head tilted to the left. the characters head is off centre and looking away from the camera.

I want to work on the sculpt with the X - symmetry enabled but every so often i want to see the character in pose as the original image is all i have to go from for reference and i am trying to recreate the pose.

can i create a base mesh in a static mirrored pose facing forward and then re-pose it to the off centre pose and flip between each while i sculpt using X -symmetry and checking the off center pose just to check it looks right.

I hope that makes sense

    Hi,

what I would do, is make a basic Armature (maybe use Rigify?) for the T-pose and Keyframe it on frame 1 and then pose it to the desired pose and Keyframe that pose on frame 2. Then you can sculpt on the mesh in T-pose using symmetry and go into pose mode to frame 2 to see the model posed.

This is not an exact method and might not work with complex models, but it did work when I've tested this on simple model.

If I remember correctly, Kent Trammel (in one of his Classes ) sculpted 'in pose' according to the art-work and then re-posed it to a T-pose, which is quite a challenge!
