Blender 2.8 different colors for different faces

hey gentlemen and gentlewoman,

I´m trying to color the eyes and the body of my character black while the head should be white. I know in blender I could press the + button on the right menu, select all faces I want to color for example black and press assign.

The Problem is I can´t find the option in Blender 2.8. Maybe somebody can help me out.

Thanks in advance!

Make sure you're in edit mode to assign multiple materials to one object.  Also, if you're in Solid Mode, the materials won't display.  Try LookDev or Rendered (Z to bring up the Pie Menu) to see the materials.

silentheart00 Thanks for the quick answer. I just don´t know where to assign the material to one specific face.
I only can create a base color and then the whole object is for example black.

    in edit mode...

    1. is material...

    2. assign...

perhaps this is that which you seek?

    hope it helps

me1958424 yeah I was searching for this. Sometimes I stuck at these simple things.

Thank you both for helping anyway :)

Somehow this guy has colored different meshes. Do you know how he does this because he is in solid mode?
