Polybook - lavabear

Hello and welcome :)

I've just started learning Blender again and would like to use this space to record my overall progress. My main interest for now is animation (hope to find other animation comrades here to study together) but I do wish to check out other topics as well.  Subscription seems a tad bit expensive for me so just a trial version for now but I really like what I see so far. :)

Animate a Circular Path - my first exercise in Blender Animation Bootcamp. Excited to learn more :)

    Getting that cube rolling :)

Although I wasn't able to find the option "only insert available" in the preferences of 2.80, the animation still looks fine to me :-?

Now, time to get back to Animation Bootcamp!

llavabear Hi and welcome =]  I'm not currently studying animation, but Miranda is a good source, and so is Phil (phoenix4690 )  @waylow is also the animation instructor, and he comments on all of the animation exercises.

If you haven't joined, there's a Community discord where the members chat, get help, feedback, etc. which may or may not help you in your animation journey.

silentheart00 Hi :) Thank you for the contacts. I'm not very talkative in general but I will try to connect more, haha.  Your gallery looks great, btw. Are you heading towards game design?

  • silentheart00 replied

llavabear Thanks!  Yes, that's the plan.  I'm actually going to a game dev grad school later this year, so I might as well start the habits now.

silentheart00 With all this practice I'm sure you will be ahead of the game (no pun intended ;D) at school. I think I will be trying character design as well later on but more geared towards animation if all goes well with that.

llavabear If there is any gap between me and the others, it won't be that way for long.  It sounds like a very challenging boot camp sort of thing, but I'm excited to go.

Hey, if you're really passionate about animation, then go for it.  You can always pick up character design when you feel more comfortable.  Good luck!

silentheart00 Thanks! Animation was my long/lost dream so it's basically now or never :) I do have a project in mind but it will take some time to start on that, as far as I can see looking at my progress. I'm so glad to finally meet some like-minded people, though. It's inspiring!

Good luck to you too, I'll keep an eye on your progress ;)

Working on some animation exercises :)

I had some trouble inserting additional keys with E (really not sure why... )  on the first exercise but I think I got it now (hopefully).

The second exercise looked a bit more difficult but once I got out my "never used" tablet and drew my own bounce path instead of counting frames to align it to the instructor's video ( I know... ), it got much easier. I hope it's at least ok (still waiting for a review). :)
