Captions like language captions or the screencast captions?  If it's screencast, follow this tutorial.

I always use obs but I don't know if it also works on mac

You can use OBS. It's what we use and it allows you to have multiple things on your screen when recording in a kind of layer system. So you can have your webcam focused on you while you record your screen then place your webcam layer above your screencast layer. It's available on Mac and Windows.

And, just to add to what Jonathan said, you can not only record with OBS, but you can stream to multiple platforms, including some of the popular ones like YouTube, Twitch, and others.

When setting it up, I'd recommend running from "game" or "window" setup if you can, but if you can't get it to work, and you have 2 monitors, you can easily set it up to screen cap one monitor and have OBS running on the other so you can start/stop the recording/stream and switch between "scenes" (different layouts... so you could go full cam, full screen, or both.)

(and I'm pretty sure OBS is also available on Linux for those who run that one)
