    Homework submission week 1

2.8 surface has been scratched. During this exercise I didn't notice anything too terrible changes (most of them were actually pretty nice) but only thing that was bugging me was the F6 menu when adding a mesh seems to be missing. Placing primitives was familiar and adding the principled shader, which is the standard shader now, didn't cause trouble. This was encouraging after hearing mostly about all the terrible changes there is going to be in 2.8 and now I'm more excited about what it is going to be working with it after the release.

ps. Of course I pressed A like hundred times trying to deselect everything but I believe that after getting used to alt+A it's a very powerful hotkey.

Here's my primitives exercise, "Warehouse racing":

swikni  Haha, very nicely done! Dunno why but that forklift is giving me massive Lego vibes. Also as a sidenote if you change your hotkey preferences to 2.7x the F6 menu returns, if you'd like that familiarity.

swikni Amazing submission! I really enjoy seeing what you creatives do with so little to work with. Great job. A+ for sure 👏

Haha nice, I was just thinking how much your project reminds me of my office space :D

  • Kaj Suominen(louhikarme) replied

swikni Cool flying feel there. :)

Jere before of anything, congratulations for participating in your 4th consecutive class :-)

This scene anyway is brilliant and basically so good idea

  • Wilco Wilbrink(carrotnl) replied

Very nice scene, exploding with energy. Very funny idea. I like the second one best, 'cause you can see the forklift truck clearest there. 😊

  • Scott McClellan(pffsfs) replied

Boxes everywhere. Mayhem, chaos... fun. I'm guessing this guy lost the race. lol Wonderful submission

  • Jere Haapaharju(swikni) replied

Thank you all for the feedback. The aim for this scene was traditional humorous chaos so according to the comments it worked lol.

  • Curious (golden-kitty) replied

Nice job! Kinda looks like my office :P

I tried out to add some motion blur but for some reason didn't get any results with eevee. I don't know too much about it but with cycles it worked fine.

The ending result indeed is very much more fast and furious than the first shots.

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

swikni Okay THAT is looking goooood.

  • Jere Haapaharju(swikni) replied

    thecabbagedetective Thanks Aaron

  • Kent Trammell replied

swikni YESSS!!! Love that motion blur touch for this scene. Well done, Jere. Sorry to hear motion blur was a no go with Eevee..wonder what that was about.

    Homework submission week 2

Something like this has been in my mind for the cover of a Spotify playlists I have. Modeling somehing with 2.8 seemed to be a good opportunity to think it through in practice. Some parts were pretty painful because the lack of add-ons like f2 but that was just a speed bump like modifiers not showing in edit mode. In my opinion the models turned out pretty well and now I have way more clearer vision of the final version that I'm going to make in 2.79

Here's one of my favorite instrument combinations: piano and violin

  • smurfmier1985 replied

swikni Beautiful! I love music, you got good taste, those two can create wondeful music together. It looks so authentic, well modeled! 😄

  • n647 replied

swikni that looks very nice, great work specially on the violin is hard to get that shape right,

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

swikni Very good looking, nice details. Love how keys are pushed down by violin, though not sure if in reality violin's weight is enough for this.
