need help with modeling wheel exersice

Hey guys i have some trouble with the exersice of modeling a wheel.
It took me long to model a part of the wheel and in the end i got satisfied but i try to use the array modifier
with the empty plain but i cannot rotate the empty plane to manipulate the wheel's form.
I am not sure i did someting wrong since i rewatched the course of array modifier several times but i cannot get it corectly.
It also isnt not really merging the way i want so i hope some can help me out and explain the mistakes i made ?
i found out that we can also use pictures as referentions so i put one in so you guys know what i tryed to model.

It looks like you have 'Manipulate Center Points' turned on. Disable that and you should be able to rotate the empty.

The reason your parts aren't merging nicely is because the edge vertices don't match up.

Here in the center you have all this overlapping geometry. If the vertices matched on all the parts, this wouldn't be an issue since they would just merge together. So try to clean that up a bit by either aligning vertices or cutting them back and matching the edges together.

Out along the rim you have a similar issue. I cut back some of the geometry so it isn't overlapping, but your edges don't match.

What you can do to fix that is remove some vertices and make quads, then line them up with the other edge. The green line is an extra edge loop I added in to get another vertice along the edge. If you do this along all the edges you want to merge it should work just fine.

What do you mean with ;aligning vertices

Does that mean i need all verticied on one straight axis?If so how i do this. Still kinda new so sorry if i dont understand from the start . Gonna check to clean it up and hope that would work.  Thanx already

yyukinoh1989 No worries. There's a lot to learn! By aligning vertices I just mean matching them up or getting them at least close enough that the merging works. In that last image I posted, you can also do something like that. Since your wheel is made up of five parts, it won't align with the axes very well, so don't worry about doing that.

hey there is indeed a lot to learn. i still am struggeling with snapping the vertex to each other. for some reason it isnt doing it correctly. anyone know some tips i can use ?
