New Laptop Advice Request

Am getting ready to spend some cash on a new Laptop to use with Blender, Substance Designer/Painter, etc

Need something in the 17.3" (eye problem) and computing power. Anyone have advise on type of laptop to look at? Seems Quad Core would be the way to go but what is the thing with the Threading issue (4, 8, 16, etc)? Dedicated or Integrated Vid card? Best for running Animation? Best Graphic card?

Not a gamer but kinda looks like gaming laptops are more powerful then others? Are They?

Thanks

I'm using an older laptop, a 17" MSI Apache (a gaming laptop with an i7 <something> and a GTX 970m). It's fine for using Blender, so I'm guessing the current model will do well, too.

And yes, gaming laptops are faster. I'm not sure what's going on with that whole threading thing. I don't seem to be affected by it, at least, not yet. (fingers crossed)

I use mine with two external monitors so I can see what's going on (doesn't always work :) ). I thought I'd be moving around more, but that didn't end up being the case. The only thing I'd do differently next time, now that I know I'll still be at the same desk, is I'd get a smaller screen and with the money saved on that, I'd go for a faster video card or CPU.

If you really got lots to spend, you might look at the MSI GT8x series. They even have real keyboards.
