Filmic is now part of blender 2.79..... does anyone know if we still need to use the github download anymore? If so, anyone know how to replace it in 2.79 as the instructions and youtube seem to be pre-2.79.

Hey Chuck, no need to download it from GitHub unless you need the base output (unless you're in a studio pipeline, it won't make a difference), and in 2.79 it's part of the regular color management view options. Just switch it from sRGB before lighting and rendering and you'll be good to go.
