    You make a good point, aauden. Typically animated animal characters are designed with more humanistic features, especially in the face, so that a human audience can relate to the characters' expressions. Can you imagine how creepy Rio would be with eyes that blinked like the real animal? 😅

    Actually. parrots do  have eyelids that they can open and close, they just don't use them to blink. They do close them when they sleep, or halfway when they're relaxing.
