Dragging Branch Around and Cap Smoothing

I'm unable to drag branches around to change their location. I'm getting this error: "NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." This post says there will be a package on Github (https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/issues/tree-selecting-rotate-node-of-a-nested-branch-group-on-a-tree-throws-nullreferenceexception-error), but I haven't found any yet.

Also, I've been trying every which way to see the cap smoothing: increasing LOD to 2, changing around angles and zooming in/out, changing materials, screenshotting before/after—I just cannot see any effect. I tried searching online for any example but couldn't find any.

It's been a while since I last used the tree generator in Unity. I'm not sure how to solve the cap smoothing issue. Personally I would prefer to create trees outside of Unity using something like Blender, or Speed Tree. Speed Tree gives you everything Unity has but also has way more tools to really create amazing trees.
