Fully rigged turnaround

Hello.  I recently joined cg cookie and very interested in rigging and animating a grease pencil character however, I would like to create a fully turnaround of a character and rig it  similar to this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zg_i3NAA2CQ

The author only shows how to create the turnaround but never how to put it all together for a complete rig.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi Jessemessy.

That's Tim there in one of the concept courses.  He demonstrates how to draw a character model sheet in Photoshop for the purposes of modelling the character in 3d.  Sadly, he doesn't show how to rig it as it's not possible to do in Photoshop.

We will have more Grease Pencil content in the future, however what you are wanting to do is some pretty advanced stuff.

If we figure out an easy way to teach it, you'll be the first to know.

    Jessymessy:

I spent some time working on solving this problem; as far as I can tell, there are two options here:

    1. Pre-draw the character from the angles you want to allow, make rigs for every angle, then use custom value sliders and a little Python to switch between the views
    2. Something like what this SketchySquirrel tutorial proposes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgy2j3yy9B4

Solution1 is annoying to implement and limits poseability, but it works if you're careful.  I'm learning how to do option 2 right now; I'll report back.

Here's what option 1 looks like:
