Good advices for less manual but optimal and quick UV related workflow

posted to: UV Packing

Well, filling the UV Space manually is really unhandy and time consuming. Therefore I would pay for an addon or a third party software if it helps me to reduce the effort caused by UV related things a lot and if it also does a better work than I could.

I've found two interesting alternatives. One is an addon for 2.8 called UV Packmaster 2 Pro for $16 and the other one is a third party software called RizomUV which exists in two versions. There are two licences available for each version, a monthly subscription and a perpetual licence. The perpetual licence of the expensive version costs 299 Euro/Dollars.

Do you know these tools and if so, which one would you prefer if you don't want to manually pack and optimize UV islands and space? Or do you know a better alternative?

I appreciate your feedback!

I totally agree! It's usually worth the tradeoff to use an addon - I just try not to use paid products in our tutorials. I'll have to give Packmaster a try. I usually use Shotpacker, which looks similar, but it doesn't have a 2.8 version yet AFIK.

I agree and do understand your decision to not using paid products in your tutorials. However, I think that hinting some paid products could be an optional solution for your viewers, if those products speed up the workflow and if they're not expensive at all.

If I did understand the description of the Shotpacker addon on it's Gumraod page correctly then it seems like there is a version for 2.8 but I'm not really sure. I also think that UV Packmaster 2 Pro offers much more options for only $6 more ^^ And if I had to decide between those two addons then I would probably choose UVP 2.

However, I want to finish watching your course first before I'm going to decide to pay for any of those tools ^^

I want to thank for you reply and wish you a nice day.
