Where are Katie Tools?

I see Katie Tools addon in Tool panels. Is it an addon? I have searched online, but couldn't find it.

Oops, you have eyes like a hawk! That's a set of tools (mostly macros) I wrote for my personal workflow several years ago, in part to teach myself python for Blender. It hasn't been updated in ages and I've since untrained myself to use it for the sake of teaching. All that to say, it's best to ignore it 😕

No worries. I was last week searching for alternatives to Substance Painter. I found BATS addon and BPainter addon.

Last night, I bought ShaderMap which costs $49 - it is an unbelievable stuff. It is for editing maps. Tools include brushes.

Today, I bought BPainter. I hope CGCookie has tutorials for BPainter, if there are any.  Someday, you might have a look at ShaderMap and see what you think. You might someday make tutorials on Blender with ShaderMap.

Together, ShaderMap and BPainter make a GREAT combination as an alternative to Substance Painter that has recently joined Adobe. Not many artists agree with Adobe.

There is more. I recently found this very interesting video at Youtube: "Node Based Texture Painting in Blender."  The guy uses nodes to make Substance Painter and Substance Designer redundant. I read that in comments.

I've not heard of Shader Map before. Looks pretty good. I haven't used Bpainter recently as the development seemed to have stalled last I checked. Hopefully dev has picked up and the tool will be compatible with 2.8.

As for making tutorials about addons, I typically avoid it especially when paid. Doesn't feel right to expect viewers to have a CGC membership and buy a 3rd party addon to learn from a CGC video, ya know?
