Matching surrounding topology question

Hi,

I have noticed that you ussually built new topology following surrounding topology. For example when creating the mouth and you create some edges on the top lip to match the ones on the botton lip. What is the main goal for this? Do you do this to facilitate the creation of mesh quads?

Cheers.

Hey, that's exactly right! Having the same number of vertices on the top and the bottom usually makes it easy to connect the two with quads. It's also a habit for facial features like the mouth and eyes, since it makes the rigging and animation process easier because they line up exactly when closed.
