why do you use visual studio code vs visual studio editor?

is there any reason to use visual studio code rather than the visual studio editor that comes with the community edition?  are they actually different?

i have not installed 2018 so i don't know if the new visual studio removed the editor, but i always thought the visual studio code was the same editor but standalone from the visual studio which is the full IDE.

ps: you mention IDE stands for internal development environment. I think the I letter actually stands for integrated,

Visual Studio Code is just a bit simpler. Less bloat and is just a bit easier to use. A lot of people really enjoy using it. I'm not using a lot of the features that some of the other Visual Studio versions offer so VS Code is all I need. Yes you're right about "integrated", must've been thinking internal when I was recording.
