Blender 2.79 differences.

Hi, I'm using Blender 2.79 and I'm following along with this course and having a really hard time getting the same results as displayed. I see that you were using 2.65. For a start - when I have the default hair length set at 4.5 when the particles are first created, my hair is much shorter - like about an inch vs a foot - so I have to grow everything. Secondly with the "Simple" children settings set exactly as you have, your hairs are much more spread out around the control hair. With my radius set to 0.2 the child hairs are tightly packed around the control hair. I have to increase my radius to around 1.6 to approximate your display. But when I do that - the locks don't come to a nice point like yours do - mine stay quite spread out.

Are these known issues with changes made to the Blender particle system or am I missing something in my setup? Can you make any suggestions please?

Hi Ashley - Since there is a lot of time between Blender 2.65 and 2.79, we can only assume there's been changes to the hair system. Though not any huge changes.

It sounds like maybe your object has un-applied scale values. Are you using the source files included with the course or your own model?

I'm using my own model which is a different size to Kent's and therefore needs some different settings.

I've tested it with Blender 2.79 and two spheres with identical "Particle Systems" (made "Single User" after duplication) where one of them is scaled to twice the size of the other. This didn't have any effect so far on the density of the "Children Hairs" of type "Simple":

The blue sphere with its red hairs and the smaller yellow sphere with its green hairs don't show any differences in the "Simple Children Hairs Density".
