movement and the rig root

This is kind of a meta question I guess but when I move the torque character the root or the 'empty' axis object remains at 0,0,0. Is this normal operating procedure? Do people normally hide this empty object once they start moving the character around?

    Yes this is quite normal.

    You can hide the selectability of this in the outliner.  Just click the arrow cursor in the OL.

    Then you won't keep accidentally selecting the empty (or geometry)
