i'm getting some strange stretching on the front paw, not sure how to fix it.

    Part of the paw is remaining stuck on the ground when I try to pose the leg.

    The vertices that make up the sticking part of the mesh must not have any vertex weight influence. You need to select those verts in edit mode and assign them to the vertex group that's named the same as the foot bone with a weight value of 1.
