I came off the previous lesson and fund that clicking Vector didn't add the Speed node to the Orb image node. After checking that everything else was identical I noticed that you had switched back to the Render Layers for your source. This doesn't seem to work when using an Image source, so you might want to mention that. I don't know if you can add a footnote to the video or something but it hung me up for about 5 minutes while I tried to figure it out.

Make sure you're using the "OpenEXR Multi-layer" image format as demonstrated in the Render Layer vs Image Node lesson. That's the only format that will store your render pass/render layer data, including vector/speed.

I'm having the same problem and I am using OpenEXR Multi-layer. Has something changed from the version this course was created with and 2.78?

In your image node with your .exr sequence loaded, make sure you set “Layer” to “Render Layer”. The default “Combined” will not show your additional passes.
