My beautifully simple and dimwitted snowman.

Polybooks

Am I a real boy, papa? (My first model using basic navigation and primitive meshes. Course mentor told me to do this. Blender progress with primitive exercises.) Hopefully I can edit this later and add more images because I want to make a bracelet out of primitives.Primitivesnowman.png

This is great Gabriel.  It looks like you learned a bunch - I wonder if you could learn a little more.

Hmmm - you up for a little challenge?

This cute little guy is looking a little lonely.  What if he had 2 friends?
    What would they look like?
Would they be bigger, smaller, made of more or less segments, have little stone mouths, or a bent carrot nose?

I have no idea.  But I bet you do :)

I know what he needs, his dad. See, his snowman dad just came through the door and the little kid opened his arms to welcome him and give him a hug. We want to see that family portrait of papa snowman and little junior here.

As of TWO requests I am proud to introduce the dimwit family. Papa is a coal miner who once played the role of Frosty. Never meet your heroes I guess. We have Dimwit himself, Lil Chubs, and Papa. (It was fun messing with proportions)ITHdadotherangle.pnglilanddimwit.png

May I do another request? Can the dad have a mustache and a briefcase? And we can't let the family be uncomplete, how about a snowmom? I don't think I've ever seen a female one, so this will be interesting.

Snowwomen are indeed rarely seen, although I remember seeing one here in the Community Forum once (but my memory may be fooling me, of course).

It's probably just a matter of using a Cone instead of the bottom Sphere, when using Primitives.

ALRIGHT. I have done it. Mom snowlady. I also did the mustache and briefcase request. These requests have been pretty fun and feel like my scribbly drawing is being put up on the fridge by my mother. I took the liberty of fixing the heads of each of the family members so there is some sense of interaction going on. I gave the mother and father tilted heads to indicate that they're looking at each other rather than staring in each others general direction. The family is complete. I tried giving the mother a bit of a "bust" but instead I just ended up giving her a funky posture. She's got fingerless stick arms because I wasn't sure how I could churn out a unique finger pattern. You know what's unique? No fingers.MOMDIMWIT.pngMOMDIMWIT2.png

Love it! I was thinking how to make a snowman girl, and a skirt was the perfect solution. Didn't think of that. Now the lovely family is complete. I shall call them the Flakes. And guess what, the final exercise of the course is making a room. I think we know who's getting a mortgage now. Oh boy, in this economy.
