Tried following as close as possible to tutorial. keep having the issue that was addressed at minute 13:00 where edges mislead the bevel but my edges are pretty good. I looked inside the mesh too, cleaned up edges, even merged vertices by distance and played with all of the modifier settings. Could be n-gons i guess.. Seems to look better if I manually bevel. Just venting... I like the tutorial though! it's great.
Jacob, if you share some renders and/or some screenshots of your mesh and settings, sometimes a second (or third or fourth) pair of eyes can spot something you missed or may have some advice on how to approach a problem in a different way.
