I have watched through all the videos (though it's been a couple of years), but as far as following along, I've only ever gotten through the sculpting stage once. That bit turned out well, but I never made it past that. Have done the planes of the head I and II a dozen times at least. But I will make it through the HUMAN course... somehow... eventually :D (If I can just keep from being distracted by some new shiny object...)
I really have been wanting to get through this course ever since it came out and would like to get it done :D
I don't feel like mine look as clean, but I feel like all the planes are there. And having done at least one where I got through most of the sculpting stage, I know I can get the likeness going at that stage... still a long way to go here. But making the progress I wanted to for tonight :D Going to see if I can get through 4 too so I can start working on the details tomorrow.
Here's the neck done... Think I"m slowly getting the hang of the tools now... maybe...

Just double-checking something... the Simplify brush is now the Density tool right?
Thought I'd get some done last night and/or get started earlier today than I did, but I feel like I"m still on track to get through the Facial Features by Wednesday, which was my goal when I was planning this week.
I'm kind of combining starting to work on the likeness with the sculpting stage, so working on sculpting the features to the likeness as I do the steps to get the features in place. That's why my cupid's bow looks a bit different from where Kent is at the end of that video and why the laugh lines aren't quite as prominent. It's there, just subtly.

The eyes are the window into the soul. :D
With the eyes, mouth, and nose done, when I cover up the forehead and ears (hiding the fact there's no hair or details there yet), I can almost start to see how this is beginning to match the references. I wouldn't be surprised if people aren't recognizing this person yet... but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if someone can start to see who this is :D Almost as far as I got the furthest I've gotten on this course and by the time I finished the ears and neck, I could already see the likeness forming.

It's not the first time though... I've done 2 others (well... sort of... One was before doing this course, years ago, and it took me about 30-50 hours before I was getting the likeness. The 2nd time was a couple of years ago? I think? I did the same one as that first one, but it was a more realistic version and took 1/4-1/3 of the amount of time to get to. :D I think there's a video later though that does go into likeness, but I think it's in the 2nd section after the retopo. I've just kind of combined a bit of getting the features and doing the likeness. so that later one should be a bit easier when I get to it.
spikeyxxx
Here's the first likeness I ever did, back after Leonard Nimoy passed away. (This is actually the version of the sculpt I used for one of Kent's lighting exercises some years ago.
And Here's the one I did more recently trying to do the Human course before. I never finished the retopo on this one, the sculpting phase was about as far as I got.

Finally got the neck part done. If you hide the forehead, the features are beginning to look like the person I'm doing... though part of this person's iconic look is definitely in the hair.

(After getting through the Context videos, it'll be on to retoop!)
Mouth Retopo. Almost as far as I got on the Spock piece (which I got halfway through the retopo section on.) Should be about that or further by this time tomorrow.

Well, then you'll like this Martin :D
This officially puts me as far as I got with the Spock project.
