At Minute 17:01 I click F to fill and I lose the inner circle of the speaker holes.

This is driving me to drink... i have retraced my steps 20 times. And everytime --I come to minute 17:01 I click F to fill and I lose the inner circle of the speaker holes. What in tarnation am I doing wrong!?

    Hi aaworkofmarc ,

You're Selection is wrong (incomplete); it should be something like this:

Yeah like Martin says, you're basically creating a "blanket" face that's covering everything below it. So you have to create the faces in the segments they correspond to.

Hey gents.. TY for the replies. I should have included this screen capture that shows my selection prior to fill. I AM selecting the entire edge as you show in my revised graphic. (it's not letting me insert a picture. So please see here: https://aworkofmarc.com/1/f-to-fill2.jpg  The exact outline you edged in green is selected.  If you feel especially generous, here's the file.

    Hi aaworkofmarc ,

You have so-called 'double Vertices" here:

    Fill.png

If you M > Merge > By Distance them, you can Fill correctly (in my Screenshot, I have already Merged them).

But another thing, your speakers are lower than the top of the console:

Arrrgh. And still I have the same problem.

I've literally tried 20 times since the last message.  As seen here:  https://aworkofmarc.com/1/f-to-fill3.jpg

    1) the speakers are not below --in fact in this attempt I even left them slightly above the console to make sure!

    2) on none of the 4 vertices selected are there double vertices that need to be merged. They fill fine... but when I try to selct all the edges to do the 2nd face fill, I can't select all the edges in one go.. and when I fill I get the exact same outcome as before.

Normally I'd have given up by now entirely but now sheer aggravation propels me forward. Any ideas?

    Hi Marc aaworkofmarc ,

In your new upload, you still have 'double Vertices':

    New Console_00.png

    and after Merging:

    New Console_01.png

Then switch to Edge Select Mode and the correct Loop will be Selected, so the Fill works as it should.

"...-in fact in this attempt I even left them slightly above the console to make sure!..."

That is just as wrong as having them below!

(That has nothing to do with the Selection and Filling; just something I noticed and that might give some Shading problems later on, so it should be fixed.)

Martin Broooooo! Thank you SO MUCH for hanging in there with me. Finally! Got it! As it turns out the fist 6 + times trying since the last time... I kept forgetting to check for multiple vertices with the XRAY ON, thus never finding the multiples. You have the patience of a saint :) TY! I learned a lot tho, I did the preceeding steps so many times I can do them in my sleep now. hahah.
