NLA : duplicate confusion?

Question Animation

(Maybe this is a whine as much as a question ...)

Curious: In the NLA

  • Alt-D makes a duplicate strip (independent copy)
  • Shift-D makes a linked duplicate strip (shared contents)

So the hot keys seem to be precisely the reverse of object data? I guess there is a good reason for it?

[Using 4.2.9 LTS, documented the same in later versions]

    Hm,

    That's weird indeed techworker1 ,

I don't know what's going on there, it looks like it used to be different, but I can't find documentation of the change:

I think that was a mistake. looking into it. It appears that the change happened in 4.0 when they made a lot of hotkey changes. People don't use the NLA that much or don't use those hotkeys. You can click key bind button and search for D. Then scroll down to NLA Editor expand both then switch the Modifier key use.
