I found that when trying to align the inner part of the hard drive that we extruded from two top faces of the outer shell, trying to get that inner bevel to match the bevel of the outer shell of the hard drive wasn't working properly.
I went back and double-checked the tutorial and the result that is in the tutorial is only matching if I leave clamp override off with 1.9cm on the bevel.
Clamping results in messing up that inner bevel and Im not sure why.
Pretty sure I followed everything else exactly.
Hm, if it's working, it's working.
It could be, that you have double Vertices, or so, but that's hard to tell from just your description that Clamp Overlap messes up the inner Bevel (usually it would be the other way around and enabling Clamp Overlap 'stops' the Bevel Modifier from working after a certain (sometimes very small) Amount, while disabling it can cause "a mess").
I had the same Problem. When you do the duplication while doing the selection with the faces "3" instead of edges"1", it duplicates many edges and the whole thing doesnt work. You need to select the faces via wireframe and the "1", then it should work just fine. Made a 30 minutes tutorial into a 1,5 hour tutorial.
