Booleans giving different result from the video

Question Modeling

After I got to the part of the video where you turn the cylinders into boolean after setting them to a collection (16:50) and waiting a couple of seconds for my PC to calculate it all, nothing happened. I had the settings just like in the video, and it only seemed to work when I set the Solver from "Exact" to "Fast".

Any idea why? Did I miss a step? Or is this just a Blender version difference (my Blender version is 4.3.2)? Moving the cylinders around doesn't change anything. It is doing calculations (Blender freezes for a couple of seconds) every time I move them around while in "Exact" mode, but it remains a flat face.

I am just wondering, because I don't want to use it like this and end up doing something wrong in other projects. Thanks in advance!

Nah don't worry about a thing, that always happens, it starts to work when you change it to Exact or Fast or the other way around. It's very unpredictable, there's too many settings and we just change things around and hope it works. It's not like you're ever going to know exactly which situation merits one solver or the other, you just test them out. You didn't miss a step or anything, it's just the math and numbers and every model being different.

There is certainly some logic to it, but I think most of the Blender users (myself included) just do like Omar and change the Settings and move the Objects, until it works and then sigh relieved and be happy.

(Just make sure that your models are okay, before tweaking the Settings, especially double-check that all the Normals are consistent!)
