Hi. Here is a video of my issue. I thought my settings were correct to not have this issue but maybe I am missing something else? Not sure if I need to bake but my image just turns white. The output layers are not red for the canvas. Any advice if you know about dynamic paint? This is my first time experimenting after these lessons.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you have to bake it for single image rendering.Â
I think that is what I did 25 seconds in the video or is there another way to bake for this? Anyway I have another issue to solve before getting back to that issue. I opened up the file again and now the paint is gone, not sure if I need to start over and animate the brushes again or if the data is stored somewhere still. This probably happened after not being sure about how to bake and save properly before closing blender I guess.Â
I am pretty sure the Bake went wrong; look at this:
Blender probably Baked it to a temp file, the Cache field is empty.
If you didn't close your computer, maybe you can still find the Baked Data in your Tmp Folder (or however that is called on your machine), otherwise you'll have to re-do things.
And make sure everything works, before closing Blender.
Ok so I’ll just redo it but on a smaller scale first to make sure I get the rendering process. What about the image sequence thing is that what I need to do when using dynamic paint? That’s just a tab somewhere to mess with those settings then I can hit bake normally? I did bake it at first but it wouldn’t playback properly as seen. But once I figure that out and bake it then I can close and reopen and be safe? I don’t think the mentor mentioned these steps just that I need to save the file before baking I think.Â
HI. I am sill getting this 0 frames on disk read for the dynamic paint issue, I am about done with the force fields chapter but still can not do this dynamic paint chapter. I am about to submit this issue as a project to my mentor because I can not find a fix for this across forums and videos a couple weeks later and he only responds to project submissions. Would you know anyone who knows a lot about dynamic paint with baking issues?Â
Hey Brandon Brandon123 ,
I have one more idea:
Are you by any chance using a Subdivision Surface Modifier with a different Level for Viewport than for Render? Because that won't work.
Otherwise, if you could post a link to your .blend file here, then I can have a look. The alternative would be, to submit it, as you say.
I just applied the sub div mod, I did leave a new note to always apply scale and mods when in doubt this weekend but forgot to check that haha. I still get same results though. I did post to my mentor as a submission so I will wait for that but I will appreciate another set of eyes on this as well. I just submitted my force fields project and went through the tips and tricks chapter and ready to start on the final project for the physics core. So after that it will be just this dynamic paint stuff. I am not sure if it would work for you or not with this maybe being a file issue.Â

It worked, because you had Applied the Modifiers.
Before Applying the Subsurf, you might have had something like this:
You could also have matched the Levels of Subdivision for Viewport and Render, instead of Applying the Modifier.
But maybe, as you say there is more to why it didn't work for you. The file you sent worked out of the box (of course you re-Baked, after Applying the Modifiers, right?).
The 0 Frames on disk in your video are still a bit suspicious.
