shadow issues

I recently updated to Blender 4.3, and when I activate the shadow options, I notice these long lines appearing. The last time i opened this project, i was using the previous version of Blender, and everything was fine, however, after opening it in the new version, I'm now encountering this issue. I still have a lot of work to do to complete this exercise, but when I render, the area with these lines also appears darker in colour

    Hi Riccardo,

Try disabling GPU Subdivision (Preferences > Viewport > Subdivision), or even change to Vulkan (this will remove the GPU Subdivision automatically):

    Vulkan.png

It warns for reduced performance, but on my system it is faster (especially with EEVEE).

Also check the Requirements for compatibility. For instance:

Not sure if this will help though.

i don't think is relative to that

Could it be due to a modifier I used? I’m not sure why they weren’t visible before, btw my laptop is compatible with the new update

    Solution

When I want to trouble shoot something like this, I just open the same scene on previous Blender versions, say 4.2 and 4.1. If it opens and doesn't have that weird thing, then it's a bug on Blender 4.3. Seeing how that's basically what you did in a way, since it was working fine until you updated, I'd say it's a bug.

    HI Riccardo,

It doesn't look like shadow to me. Did you try disabling GPU Subdivision? That can sometimes create these kind of artifacts when using a Subdivision Surface Modifier.

thank you Omar! that's what i actually did!

the same scene in the previous version 3.6 with no issues, a bit annoying as i will need to finish this project on window instead of ubuntu where i have v 4.3
