🍪 Freshly Baked Weekly Challenge 9 - Ritz Cracker

CGC Modeling Challenges
Wes Burke

I've been excited about broaching the subject of food with these modeling challenges.

This week, let's model a cracker!

As with most things, the closer you look, the more complex something can appear. The trick here is to use displacement or normal maps to help extract some of this detail.

Perhaps the salt is applied with scatter? Projection Mapping?

I want to challenge you to model this object 100% in Blender. Please share it on the CG Cookie forum thread below.

Food is one of those super difficult to do things in 3D, it is a big challenge. My hat is of to you brave CG artist who tackle it.

Something is missing here, I don't know what.

I think the upper side is too bumpy? Could also be a butter cookie :)

wod - it's so close, and I do agree something is off. It may come down to adding greater variances on the color (dark/light) and the bumps (big/small). I could also see this benefiting from adding additional salt. Overall pretty spot on.

    Thank you for your feedback.

You're right about the colors (dark/light) now that I've looked at the original picture again. I will try again soon.
